European Business Air News – March 2006. Midwest Executive Aviation Celebrate Four Years of FBO Services in the UK “We are delighted with the companies development and creating four FBO’s in as many years is testament to the dedication and hard work of our team at Midwest Exec”, comments CEO Nick Weston. “We have further plans of expansion within the UK and overseas and at the moment we have a number of joint venture and new FBO openings being considered for 2006”. The initial business model for Midwest Executive Aviation was to establish an FBO service at regional airports that had no FBO provider and where business aircraft were having to use main line handlers and going through main airport terminals. The only exception to this strategy is at Birmingham Airport where the company has established a joint venture agreement with British Airways to handle large chartered aircraft through Terminal 2, offering dedicated check-in by British Airways and the use of the British Airways Terraces business lounge, duty free purchases and covered airbridges and walkways to the aircraft. Regional Manager, Mike Greenway is responsible for the Birmingham operation and is very pleased with the first years success. “In the last year we have seen a large number of specially chartered aircraft using our services at Terminal 2 and we have also had visits from charter brokers to see what we can offer and within a month or so they are placing an aircraft through us” says Mike. “The venture was such a success that we went on to also open our own FBO facility on the Western Apron to handle business and private aircraft in April last year”. He adds. Commenting on the future for Midwest Executive Aviation, Nick Weston is extremely upbeat and positive. “Taking Coventry, Newquay and Durham Tees Valley, the best acknowledgement I can receive from an airport owner is the fact that since our arrival, their business aviation traffic has seen an increase and their income and profits have also increased. This is the perfect situation for all concerned, airport owners are happy, we are happy and aircraft operators receive a better service from a dedicated FBO provider”. In 2006, Midwest Executive Aviation will see the companies relocation to a new purpose built Business Aviation Centre and ramp at Coventry Airport. “The new ramp is currently under construction and we are now in talks with the airport management specifying our requirements to suit current and future needs, but when it is ready and fully operational it will be a first class facility” says Weston. “ The new airport owners are extremely keen to fully establish Coventry Airport as a prime location for business aviation and are we are working very closely with them to develop and promote the airport and our facility. |
